That is the question I had in mind as I started to explore my free inquiry topic; meditation. Initially, I thought I should keep it as free as possible by not scheduling specific times to meditate or following any rigorous schedules. But I’ll be honest, an open schedule hasn’t really been working for me so far, and I need to hold myself accountable if I’m going to have any success with this inquiry.
So, I pose this question to myself:
What will work best to keep me accountable, a schedule or daily reminders?
With a schedule, I would have a set time where I take 10-20 minutes to meditate everyday. A daily reminder would be less rigid than a schedule, as I wouldn’t have a set time, but rather a notification reminding me at a certain time to remember to meditate. A schedule is perhaps more intentional but less flexible, which is valuable when balancing school, work and life. However, sticking to a schedule helps create a routine, which is part of my overall goal.
I think I’ve heard somewhere that it takes 40 days to turn something into a habit…
